REPARATION TO ST. JOSEPH

REPARATION TO ST. JOSEPH

Though this is an old story, I just found out about it now:

In Morro Agudo, Brazil, a 19-year-old man made a joke in bad taste. He simulated a sex act with a statue of St. Joseph, the city's patron saint, and posted photos of the act on his social network. The act angered the city's Catholic community. The man later removed the post and apologized citing that he didn't know it was the statue of a saint, even though the statue is in front of a church.

Regardless of this story being 4 years old and the apology that came, an act of reparation should still be made for this act. So please offer a prayer to comfort St. Joseph and also for the young man to receive the graces he needs for his spiritual welfare.
Hail Joseph, son of David, God is with you!
Blessed are you amongst men and blessed is our Lord Jesus Christ! Holy Joseph, Guardian of the Redeemer, forgive those who desecrate your images, send them the graces they need, and accept our humble embrace in reparation for their sins. +Amen.

HEART OF ST. JOSEPH REVEALED TO SISTER MARY EPHREM

Apparition of St. Joseph to Sister Mary Ephrem during the course of the apparitions of Our Lady of America, March 19, 1958: St. Joseph appeared to me as he had promised and addressed me in these words:

“My child, I desire a day to be set aside to honour my fatherhood. The privilege of being chosen by God to be the Virgin-Father of His Son was mine alone, … The Holy Trinity desires thus to honour me that in my unique fatherhood all fatherhood might be blessed.”

Then suddenly, as he ceased speaking, I was favoured with a unique and marvellous vision:

St. Joseph seemed suspended, as it were, a short distance above what had the appearance of a large globe with clouds moving about it. His head was slightly raised… The colour of his hair, as also of his rather small and slightly forked beard, seemed a very dark brown. His eyes resembled in colour the hair and beard.

He was clothed in a white robe that reached to his ankles. Over this he wore a sort of cloak which draped gracefully over him, reached to the hem of the robe. The cloak at times had, or seemed to have, the appearance of a brown, sometimes a purple, hue, or perhaps a slight blending of the two. The belt about his waist was of a gold colour, as were his sandals.

His appearance, though quite youthful, gave at the same time the impression of rare maturity combined with great strength. He seemed a bit taller than medium height. The lines of his face appeared strong and purposeful, softened somewhat by a gentle serenity. I also saw his most Pure Heart at this time.

Moreover, I saw the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove hovering above his head. Standing sideways, facing each other, were two angels, one on the right, the other on the left. Each carried what appeared to be a small pillow in a satin covering, the pillow on the right bearing a gold crown, the one on the left, a gold sceptre.

WHY THE ANNUNCIATION TO JOSEPH IN HIS SLEEP?

Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and was unwilling to disgrace her publicly, he resolved to divorce her quietly. But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:19-20

There are some who are perplexed as to why this great announcement to Joseph took place while he was sleeping rather than while he was awake. The reasons for this are given by Venerable Maria de Agreda and are shared in THE BOOK OF JOSEPH:

The first reason is, since Joseph was so prudent and filled with heavenly light, that it was not necessary to convince him by strong evidence to assure him of Mary’s dignity and of the mysteries of the Incarnation.

The second reason is, because his trouble had its beginning in seeing with his open eyes the pregnancy of his spouse, that they, having given occasion for suspicion, should be closed in order to see the angelic vision.

The third reason is that it was befitting for the angel deliver this message to him at a time when his senses, which had been scandalized to the point of grief, were suspended, that Joseph be in a state of peace and tranquility of spirit.

OUR LADY OF THE NETTLES (ORTIGA)

Municipality of Ourém, Portugal – 1604: Up until she met “the Lady” it had been a rather unassuming day for the mute shepherd girl. She was keeping watch over her grazing flock when the Lady suddenly appeared and asked if she could have one of her sheep. The girl, who could not speak from birth, found herself able to speak for the first time: “I’m sorry but I can’t give you any of the sheep without my father’s permission.” The Lady said she would wait for the girl to run home to Casal de Santa Maria to ask her father’s permission.

Upon hearing his daughter speak, the father was overjoyed and considered this to be a miracle. He told the girl to give the Lady whatever she asked for in thanks for the blessing. When the girl returned to the Lady, the Lady revealed that she was the Blessed Virgin Mary and that she would like to have a chapel built, from where she would bestow many graces to the people.

Later that day, the father was taken to where the apparition had taken place. On that spot, sitting on a rock amidst some nettles, was a statue of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus with her right hand, and a Bible with her left. The statue was taken to Casal de Santa Maria but disappeared overnight. The next morning the father found the statue in the same place as the day before, on the rock amidst the nettles. This was taken as a sign that the chapel was to be built there.

In 1801 a plenary indulgence was granted by Pope Pius VII to all pilgrims visiting the shrine on the first Sunday of July and on the following Tuesday and Wednesday. To gain the indulgence, the faithful are to go to Confession, receive Holy Communion (being in a state of grace), and pray for the Holy Father the Pope. This indulgence is still in effect to this day.

TE IOSEPH CELEBRENT AGMINA CAELITUM

♔         HYMNUM SANCTE IOSEPH         ♔
TE IOSEPH CELEBRENT AGMINA CAELITUM

TE, Ioseph, celebrent agmina caelitum,
te cuncti resonent Christiadum chori,
qui, clarus meritis, iunctus es inclitae,
casto foedere Virgini.

Almo cum tumidam germine coniugem
admirans dubio tangeris anxius,
afflatu superi Flaminis, Angelus
conceptum puerum docet.

Tu natum Dominum stringis, ad exteras
Aegypti profugum tu sequeris plagas;
amissum Solymis quaeris et invenis,
miscens gaudia fletibus.

Electos reliquos mors pia consecrat1
palmamque emeritos gloria suscipit;
tu vivens, Superis par, frueris Deo,
mira sorte beatior.

Nobis, summa Trias, parce precantibus;
da Ioseph meritis sidera scandere,
ut tandem liceat nos tibi perpetim
gratum promere canticum.
Amen.

♔           HYMN TO ST JOSEPH        ♔
JOSEPH! TO THEE BY HOSTS ON HIGH

JOSEPH! to thee by hosts on high
and choirs of Christians, laud be paid!
saintly of life, -by purest tie
joined unto her, the glorious Maid.

When thou didst doubt thy wife's repute,
and mark her great with motherhood,
the angel taught thee that her fruit
came from the Holy Ghost of God.

To clasp the Son, the Lord, was thine,
to share His flight to Egypt's shore,
with tears, to seek in Salem's shrine
Him lost, - with joy, to find once more.

Death brings to other Saints their rest;
through toil they win the victor's place;
thou happier, like the Angels blest,
alive, hast seen God face to face.

Spare us, O Trinity most High!
grant that, with Joseph, we may gain
Thy starry realm, and ceaselessly
there raise to Thee our thankful strain.
Amen.
