♔ ST. JOSEPH SPARES A YOUNG MOTHER & THE LIFE OF HER UNBORN SON ♔

One day, a young woman, mother of three children, presented herself at the Convent of the Religious of St. Joseph at Bessillon, (Cotignac, France), asking them to pray earnestly for her. In fact, she was expecting a fourth child and was herself affected by a serious illness. The doctors had given up hope and told her that the only way that she could pull through was to have an abortion, that it was either her life or the child’s – and the child’s health could not be guaranteed either. The doctors also added that to have an abortion was her duty as she already had three children to bring up.

Faced with this advice which she struggled with, she went to find a priest, who said to her: “Go for nine days to Mass at St. Joseph’s convent at Bessillon, he will help you.”

She obeyed at once and, ill as she was, she managed to travel more than one hundred and fifty kilometers (93 miles) during the nine consecutive days, to come and make her supplication to St. Joseph at the place of his apparition in 1660.

The child was born at full term, with no defects, and the mother survived the birth. The child is a fine young man of 32 years (2014), very intelligent and full of life. He was followed by two little brothers.

✠ PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH FOR UNBORN CHILDREN ✠ 

Good St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Protector of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we beseech thee to protect the lives of all unborn children who are in danger of abortion.

Through thy care and guidance, instill in the hearts and minds of mothers, fathers, and those who perform abortion procedures, that the innocent unborn are human beings who are worthy of life and the benefits of parental love.

Great St. Joseph, let thy strong arms surround these children, shield them from harm and grant them the joy of life. Grant them above all the support needed for the reception of the Sacrament of Baptism by which they may become children of God and heirs to eternal life. + Amen.
 

ST. JOSEPH PATRON OF FATHERS AND THE UNBORN - PROLIFE

St. Joseph has raised the bar for fathers to come. The Heavenly Father has given us a completely human father as a pattern for what true paternity is. Joseph is God’s model of real fatherhood, Mary is our perfect image of motherhood, and Christ is our ideal of true and perfect sonship. Because of this earthly trinity, we have the perfect family blueprint for the most imperfect of times. St. Joseph teaches us that fatherhood goes beyond genetics, and now more than ever he is a role model for both biological and adoptive parents. Though Christ is not flesh of his flesh, he accepts the life that grows within the sanctuary of his beloved’s womb.

From the moment that Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, he took on the human nature of his chosen father, Joseph, and the flesh and blood of Our Lady. When St. Joseph accepted the role of father, he became the Patron of Fatherhood and the Unborn, the loving guardian of the helpless and innocent. Just as he loved the unborn Redeemer while still in his mother’s womb, so too does he love all the children of this world. And just as he wept for the children who were massacred by King Herod, so too does he now weep for those who are aborted in clinics, every day, all around the world.

Behold, sons are a gift from the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. — Psalms 126:3

Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb. I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works. My soul also knew you full well… — Psalms 139:13-16

St. Joseph is also a model for those men who are afraid or hesitant to take on the responsibility of raising a child. So many young men are faced with the news that their wife or girlfriend is pregnant. A flood of panic overtakes many of them, especially those who are unmarried, and in their despair they run away from their responsibilities, abandoning mother and child. It is this act of abandonment that leads many children to be aborted by their mothers, not out of malice but out of fear. Who better to be a guide for these men, than one who’s been there? 

St. Joseph was faced with the exact same situation as these men and almost resorted to sending his beloved, and the child within her, away. In the end though, he took his rightful place as husband and father. He knows what it was like to almost lose his wife and son, and if men would only look to him, chosen by the Eternal Father, they would know that he understands how they feel. He felt confused, scared, and full of anxiety, but the love of a father for his son outweighs all of these frustrations. He was truly predestined above all other men to take on the role of Father of the Redeemer and Spouse of the Blessed Virgin.

Watch, stand fast in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. — 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

God and his followers have never been under attack more than right now. We need St. Joseph’s prayers for a world gone wrong, and we need him as our example to follow Jesus to the Father and to live his Divine Will. 

The Holy Innocents

Herod perceiving that he was deluded by the wise men, was exceeding angry; and sending killed all the men children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremias the prophet, saying: A voice in Rama was heard, lamentation and great mourning; Rachel bewailing her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. - St. Matthew 2:16-18

        In Ramah is heard the sound of moaning, of bitter weeping! Rachel mourns her   
        children, she refuses to be consoled because her children are no more.

We rejoice in the glory of Jesus Christ, who conquered the enemy not by force of arms but with a white-robed army of children, and we cry out: The white-robed army of martyrs praises you.

The Holy Innocents gave witness not by words but by their life's blood - give us the strength to be your witnesses before men, both by word's and actions.

They were not ready for battle but you made them fit to win the palm of victory - now that we are prepared for victory, do not let us despair.

You washed the robes of the Innocents in your blood
- cleanse us from all sin.

You rewarded the child martyrs with the first share of your kingdom - do not let us be cast out from the unending heavenly banquet.

You knew persecution and exile as a child - protect all children whose lives are in danger from famine wars and disasters.

O God, whom the Holy Innocents confessed and proclaimed on this day, not by speaking but by dying, grant, we pray, that the faith in you which we confess with our lips may also speak through our manner of life. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
